    Pros +

    • If you’re looking for a hotel that’s central to most attractions in Ikebukuro, this is a good fit. Sunshine City, and Ikebukuro Station are in walking distance. The staff were accommodating and helped with a smooth transition to our first hotel in Japan.
    • The location was very nice, especially how close it was to Sunshine City and the subway station. They were also super kind in offering an incentive if we chose an "eco-clean" option, where the housecleaning staff did the more basic of duties. We didn't mind at all, (we actually prefer that), and got free tokens for the alcohol vending machine on the 2nd floor. They also had washing and drying machines on the second floor as well.
    • Size of the single room can vary, if you get the bigger single room, it’s better.

    Cons -

    • The room and bathroom are very small. As a 6ft stocky guy, I had a hard time relaxing in the room. I had to duck in order to use the bathroom/shower. Unfortunately, I won’t be booking again with Hotel Route-Inn. The price did not match what was expected.
    • My wife and I were very unsure of the key policy. There were no key cards for the rooms, and we were asked to return the keys to the desk whenever we left the premises. We understand that we were foreigners in a very different country than our own, nevertheless the cultural difference made us unsure at the tim.e
    • Very old school hotel, still use key instead of electronic door card. U need to deposit your key with the counter staff when you leave the hotel.

Easy and friendly place. Located near heart of Ikebukuro. Nice space for its cost- it’s hard to find a good sized with the right price twin bedroom anywhere in Japan. These rooms were perfect for two so we rented three twin bedrooms for six people. The Hotel was small but mighty in every way.

The pillow was little too small and bed little hard- I don’t mind little hard mattress but the pillow was a problem. But I solved it by asking for 2nd pillow and covering it with my padded vest. Maybe you don’t mind or maybe this is a deal breaker for some- but my family and I didn’t think mush of big deal.

Decent size room, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast spread was good too. Thanks.

Very nice and helpful staff. The breakfast had a vast variety of good options. The room was clean and quiet. The hotel is around 10 min away from the station and very close to Ikebukuro's main aerations.

The room was on the smaller side, but it was enough for one person.

Staff, facilities and breakfast were all wonderful.

Rooms were a bit small for me and my daughter plus suitcase but we made it work

Great, have all basic needs, nice shower / soap, amenities, good for single travellers.

Excellent location close to the station and Ikebukuro’s interesting anime district. It was clean and the staff were helpful, there is free coffee in the reception area and you are rewarded for using the eco-clean service which is way more convenient than normal service.

The bed. It was like sleeping on concrete. Whoever made this bed hates human beings and thinks comfort is for the devil. The pillow was awful too it had an odd strap on the back of it, presumably some other torture device to compliment the beds evil. The breakfast is also very niche, it is very much a Japanese influenced choice of food so be wary if you are not used to it.

Great location; basic amenities provided. Free drink tokens was a nice touch

The bed was rock hard, like sleeping on cement

    - very nice breakfast, changing offer - large room with sufficient facilities - location near Ikebukuro Sunshine 60 and Sunshine street- bus and train station within walking distance - you get coins for free drinks

    - very thin walls (you can easily hear the flush of nearby toillets or even, when the stuff beginns to clean up) - sadly you first need an tv-card for being able to watch anything

    7JohannaPosted on: 12-29-2022

    - free Softdrink - breakfast included - Location - cfomfortable bed - easy and fast Check in - fast Check Out - good Internetconnection

    - TV not included
